When framing a watercolor painting, use an archival mat to prevent direct contact between the glass and the painting, which can cause damage from moisture and potential sticking; always opt for UV-protective glass to protect colors from fading, and consider a simple frame style that doesn't detract from the delicate nature of the watercolor artwork. To avoid fading of colors it is ideal to hang the painting away from direct sunlight.
